Power loom plant is equipped with two fully automatic power looms of 4 mtr width and two 2mtr width. The 4 mtr power looms are imported from Germany. For assisting the looms there are 4 cops winding machines in the power loom plant. Various types of mattings are made from the power loom. When comparing to the other looms in the matting plant, the power looms are having a high production capacity. As it is fully automatic, the manual labour required for the loom is comparatively less. Our power looms are capable for weaving maximum up to 4 mtr wide mattings. The mattings weaved in our power looms are having a high demand in the export market because of its high quality. FOMIL have specially trained workers for operating the power looms, and also these workers are well experienced in the field of the weaving.
The bleaching and dyeing of the yarns are done in the plant. Bleaching is done to make the yarn strong and brighter and the dyeing is done to colour the yarn. Both the coir and jute yarns are bleached and dyed to make it attractive. About 80% of the work done in the plant are job work only and 20% of the works are done for the house. Our dye house is capable of dyeing and bleaching all types of materials, as per the requirements of the customers.
The process in the dye house starts with washing of the fiber in large tanks. Then it is treated with sodium hydrochloric solution for bleaching or with various dyes for dying, and is then placed in the hydro extractor for removing the water content. In this plant, latex backing is done on various mattings of coir, jute, sisal, wool, and also on poly propylene. The latex backing machine was imported from Denmark on 1979.The latex foam is applied on the mattings. The name FOAM MATTINGS was also because of this plant. There is no other plant in Kerala to compete with the speed of the FOMIL’s latex backing machine. The technology of this imported machine is still unbeatable. The installedcapacity of theplant is 12,00,000sq.m per annum. FOMIL undertake latex backing work of other exporters in addition to its own work.
